How to Have a Happy Halloween Party During a Global Pandemic
Find out how to make Halloween special — and safe — for your family even though coronavirus continues to rage.
Halloween, just like every other day, is extra scary in 2020. Even if your state is allowing trick or treating, you probably don’t want to take your kids to get candy from strangers with coronavirus swirling. Talk about a nightmare! But you can still make Halloween special for your loved ones by hosting a low-risk party. C’mon, everyone needs the distraction and a bit of tradition right about now.
Pick the setting.
During the pandemic, getting together outside and taking the proper precautions is the best way to meet with those outside of your home. If the weather permits (or you have a fire pit in your backyard), then go for it. Just be sure to wisely devise your guest list. Know how many people are permitted at outdoor gatherings in your state, maintain social distancing rules, and have guests keep on masks when they are not eating. Also, be smart about feeding people. Individually wrapped items or meals are best and avoid common condiments and the like. Keep it simple. Use disposable utensils and plates, etc. You can learn more about safety precautions on the Centers for Disease Control website.
